Grad Colloquium – The University

Grad Colloquium, which occurs twice each semester, provides additional insight into issues in the study of religion, academia and the university generally, and career plans outside academia. Required for first year students, the colloquium is open to any current graduate students in the MA in Religion in Culture. This second colloquium in Fall 2021 will focus on navigating the institution of the university, with Russell McCutcheon.

Kristin Bradbury Salter (BA 2005) was a Phi Beta Kappa REL major and Blount minor. Today she is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist practicing medicine in the Nashville area. Join REL alum Chris Hurt for a virtual evening of conversation with Kristin -- about her career and the ongoing relevance of her liberal arts education. Nearing completion of her Ph.D at Yale University, her work focuses on such topics as secularism, with a dissertation on the spiritual but not religious (SBNR) fitness cultures of neo-liberal capitalism which involves carrying out fieldwork among CrossFit boxes and SoulCycle studios.
