Digitalized Bricks and Mortar?

intelligencedebatelogoDoes technology improve or replace universities?

There was a debate recently, at Columbia University, on this very topic; read about it here or watch it.

Personally, I get a kick out of people standing behind a lectern in a lecture hall, on a university campus, delivering information in a mono-directional style (i.e., talking at an audience) and trying to persuade everyone that standing behind a lectern in a lecture hall, on a university campus, delivering information in a mono-directional style is yesterday’s news because it is not engaging.

Curiously, they expect us to be engaged in their argument when the implication of their argument is that they’re not being engaging.

The question is: if this is the mode of delivery they opt for then why is it passé when a university professor opts for it?
