Religious Studies Student Association

Who Are We?

The Religious Studies Student Association (RSSA) is open to all majors and minors in the Department, as well as any University of Alabama student who is interested in planning and participating in events outside the REL classroom. RSSA promotes students' interests in the history, development, and application of Religious Studies, providing them with an opportunity to achieve and develop their intellectual interests.

What's Goin' on in the RSSA?

The RSSA is the student association associated with the Department of Religious Studies. The students work to organize different events for majors and minors in the Department. The students, along with a few members of the faculty, frequently go out for dinner, watch movies, go on excursions, etc.

With new officers (Hannah Lawlor, Ashton Sims, and Mark Ortiz) at the helm, the RSSA is ready to hit the ground running with a number of new, exciting events for the Spring semester! Along with our usual bi-monthly dinners and movies, the RSSA is gearing up for the Spring 2013 Get on Board Day, a trip to Pie Lab, maybe some balcony bashes, and of course, Manly Cup 2013!

We're always excited about having new members join our company, so be sure to join the Religious Studies Student Association on facebook and stay up-to-date with all of our events! Also, feel free to post with any ideas or opinions you may have! After all, the RSSA wouldn't be what it is without all of the majors/minors, so please let us know of any ideas you may have for future events. It's a great time to get involved with the RSSA!

Also, a big thanks to Prof. Ted Trost, Betty Dickey, and Donna Martin for helping make so much of this possible.
