Prof. Greg Johnson, University of Colorado, Boulder, elaborating on his talk with some students after his public lecture...

To serve not only the needs and interests of our students but also the wider University as well as the local Alabama community, the Department of Religious Studies is pleased to host a number of lectures each semester, organized by Prof. Merinda Simmons, which include the:

Aronov Lecture

The Day Lecture

Religion in Culture Lecture Series

Religion in Culture Lunchtime Discussion Series

TAK Lunchtime Discussion Series

This discussion series is an informal opportunity for our students to meet scholars--whether professors on our own campus or visitors from other campuses--and discussion their work with them.

Both of the Department's lecture series are open to the public and are free of charge.

The lunchtime discussion series, however, is limited to majors and minors in the Department of Religious Studies.

Although some of these events are funded by generous grants from the College of Arts & Sciences' Anonymous Lecture Fund for the Humanities, others are funded by the Department or in cooperation with other units.

Please consider joining us at an upcoming event. For more information, call our main office at 205-348-5271.
